D.A.N.C.E art club were honoured to host our first Noho for invited collaborative artists and collectives indigenous to the Moana nui a Kiwa. The event was held over 24 hours, from 11am, Saturday, 22 July to 11am, Sunday, 23 July. Aimed at bringing together like minded artists who work collaboratively and within a collective framework, the noho provided a platform to share stories, experiences, food, music and art in a playful and safe environment. Presentations, workshops and food filled the day with the evening committed to installing an exhibition in the main gallery. Oceania Interrupted presented vital information about what is happening with our Pacific Cousins in West Papua and the amazing work they do here in Solidarity. Mata Aho involved us in an interactive presentation interrogating the relationships between curators, institutional spaces and collectives. Finally FAFSWAG presented the huge range of work they have done in the context of navigating the rainbow space. Participants were also treated to impromptu dance lessons lead by the FAFSWAG crew. A common theme during the noho was the importance of visibility and connectivity. Full image gallery here.
